Scott Bridges holds a Bachelor of Education with first class honours and recently submitted his PhD thesis for examination. His research examines the role played by media events in the expansion of Qatari broadcaster Al Jazeera, with a focus on Australia.
Scott teaches journalism and communication at the University of Canberra and has worked in newsrooms across Australia, Europe and the Middle East. He is the managing director of Australia-Middle East Journalism Exchange, a not-for-profit company dedicated to enhancing cross-cultural understanding by fostering better informed journalism. Scott is passionate about the Middle East as a region, and particularly about building stronger ties between Australia and the Arab world.
Scott's expertise is cross-disciplinary, spanning multi-platform media, communications and political science. He speaks beginner Arabic and is working hard to improve his proficiency.
