Islamic Culture Workshop at ACT Human Rights Commission

Dr Helen Watchirs OAM, President of the ACT Human Rights Commission, described it as "very helpful and open!"

On the 2nd day of Eid Al Fitr, a holy celebration to Muslims, IAMBE held an in-house Islamic Culture Workshop at the offices of the ACT Human Rights Commission.

Dr Helen Watchirs OAM, President of the ACT Human Rights Commission, attended the Workshop, participated in asking insighteful questions that enriched the workshop and gave a great feedback.

ACT Human Rights Commission staff deal with Muslim clients regularly and had lots of questions to ask. IAMBE worked on answering all their questions, showed them the differences between Islamic teachings and cultural practices, and gave them tips on DOs and DON'Ts when dealing with Muslim clients to give their work more efficiency.

Elysha Treacy, case coordinator at the Victim Support Section, mentioned that she was "very satisfied" with the Workshop and added "It was so incredibly beneficial + eye opening! I feel I have learnt so much + feel more confident with my knowledge of Islam".

IAMBE would like to thank the staff of the ACT Human Rights Commission for their great hospitality and for their eagerness to learn more and provide the best to their clients.
