EXPO2020 DUBAI is the ultimate showcase of human development and ingenuity. EXPO2020 will run between 20 October 2020 and 10 April 2021 and will centre on three themes of human development: Opportunity. Mobility. Sustainability.

It is expected to attract around 25 million visitors from over 180 countries of which 70 per cent will be from outside the UAE. The Expo will be partitioned into countries which will each operate their own pavilions 

In March 2018, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop announced that Australia too would be participating. Minister Bishop highlighted that: Expo 2020 is an opportunity to showcase Australian culture, ingenuity and innovation and highlight the quality of our services sector and education system, agricultural products and credentials as a secure destination for investment 

The UAE is investing more than USD$9.4 billion in the event and has made a commitment to ensuring that 20% of primary and subcontracts are awarded to small and medium enterprise
